With a slip, a star fell from the sky. The impact on the ground left her so dizzy and dazed that for a while, she was scared and didn’t move. Everything in the world seemed dark to her, but slowly, cautiously, and stealthily, she walked across that weak, cold land.
The star was alone in a dark world. Exhausted and quite frustrated, she lay down on the ground and fell asleep. After a while, a tickle on her nose woke her up. She went cross-eyed, shook her head, and struggled to focus. Playing with the tip of her nose was a small green stem with two leaves dancing to the rhythm of her breath.
Surprised, she pulled back to avoid crushing the plant, but almost immediately the darkness covered her, and the two little leaves wilted at the sides of the stem. Almost as an instinctive reaction to what had happened, the star brought her hands close enough to illuminate the small plant, having, to her surprise, the opposite effect of the darkness, restoring the little leaves to their position.
Moved, the star-filled herself with patience, and the plant gradually grew. Many more stems and leaves began to surround the star. Her light nourished the plant, making it grow strong until the moment came when the star was surrounded by beautiful flowers of bright colors, almost as bright as the light she had.
From time to time, the star thought about how nice the world would be if she could share her light, but she knew that if she moved from that garden, it would die. One day, suddenly a sound in the darkness distracted her. Slowly, this sound approached her and her flowers. Intrigued and half-scared, the star sharpened her hearing and vision in that darkness. The star understood that the sound came from the two small wings of a bee. At first, she thought that, like the plants, it came for her light, but quickly realized that the little visitor was thirsty. As soon as it arrived, it landed on a flower and dived in, drinking all the pollen it could, and just as it came, it returned.
The situation made the star very happy. She watched as day after day, more and more bees arrived at her small garden. Although her mood had improved, the star still wondered what the rest of the world was like, where the bees came from, and if she could create more gardens. Then… it occurred to her! She looked to her left where the largest flower, the first one, was, and right there was a small bee delighting in the pollen. With great care, the star touched the bee, and it lit up like a bulb. At that moment, the bee becomes a firefly and starts to spread her light across the world.
